Calvert County State’s Attorney Robert Harvey announced that Christopher Morgan Hynson, 34, of Saint Leonard, was sentenced on January 24, 2022 for the crime of vehicular manslaughter.  Hynson received a sentence of 10 years incarceration to be followed by 5 years of supervised probation.

State’s Attorney Harvey wishes to extend his deepest sympathies to the families of Gerard Fragman and Jessica Brady both of whom were tragically killed in a motor vehicle crash caused by Hynson on May 14, 2020.  He also wishes to commend Corporal Bortchevsky and the Calvert County Crash Reconstruction Team for their efforts in the investigation of this matter.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Christopher J. Monte.

Calvert County State’s Attorney Robert Harvey announced that Charles Henry Hall, III, 44, of Chaptico, pleaded guilty on January 21, 2022 to 1 count of felony animal cruelty, and 1 count of misdemeanor animal cruelty, relating to the use and possession of a dog for dogfighting.  Hall faces a maximum penalty of 3 years incarceration and a $5,000 fine.   As part of the plea agreement, Hall forfeited his ownership of the dog recovered at his property and will be prohibited from owning, possessing, or residing with any animal.  Sentencing is scheduled for March 14, 2022 at 9:00am before the Honorable Mark S. Chandlee.

These charges are the result of a collaborative effort between the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, St. Mary’s County Animal Control, Humane Rescue Alliance, and the Calvert County Animal Cruelty Task Force, comprised of members of the Sheriff’s Office, Animal Control, and the State’s Attorney’s Office.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Christopher J. Monte.

Calvert County State’s Attorney Robert Harvey is pleased to announce that, as of December 31, 2021, his Child Support Division ranked #1 in the State of Maryland in percent of child support collected and arrears paid.  In the first quarter of FY 2022, the Division helped to collect more than $133,000 in purge payments.  Congratulations to Division Chief Tammy Lafferty and her support staff consisting of Kathy Bowen, Joan Helms, and Christine Wells.  Calvert County truly is #1!
